Weed Solution Wizard - Step 3d of 3
Select your Product Preference
Review the weed description, then select from the control options below.
Coontail (Ceratophyllum demersum) is a submersed plant which has no roots, and so is free-floating. It grows in sluggish waters. Coontail grows across the entire U.S. and most of Canada.
Because its leaves are arranged in whorls on the stem, this plant resembles a racoon's tail. The leaves look feathery because each is divided into many narrow segments. Each leaf has several small teeth on the midribs. These tiny teeth give the plant a rough feel when pulled through the hand. Coontail flowers are very small and rarely seen.
